Configuring DB for use with FC81?

Grumpybear Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	I'm trying to set up FC 81 per the example in the online help (selecting FC81 and pressing F1) Does anyone have any idea what the structure of the DB is to make the example work? I've tried setting this up to work but have had no luck. It shows these values in the help: DBX0.0 = P#DB1.DBX50.0 DBW10 = W#16#0000 DBW12 = W#16#0000 DBW50 = W#16#2424 DBW52 = W#162525 My confusion seems to lie in the pointer value located at bit address 50.0 - I've read the ANY pointer guide but without a working example of this that I can play with, I find it horribly confusing. I'm using this FC because I need to employ indirect addressing on my destination address - and this is very confusing compared to my trusty old Allen-Bradley indirect addressing

Sydney Gold Member Joined: 1/4/2008 Last visit: 7/2/2025 Posts: 703 Rating: (98)	Hello, firstly please be so kind and don't use just "Fc81" - it can be anything If I understood right, you mean IBLKMOV (Fc81 in TI-S7) from the Standard library. The actual parameters aren't the ANY pointers, but I think there is abad description in the online help. As mentionedadword pointers for area-crossing indirect addressing are expected, but then they can't know the DB numbers. So they expected the same structure that is used for pointers in input parameters in this function, e.g. 6 bytes where the first word is number of the DB and the next dword is the address pointer. So the structure for you is: 1.word (DB number of the data source) - this is the variable for pointing by S_DATA pointer nextdword (area-crossing pointer to datasource address) 2. word (DB number of thedata length storage) - this is the variable for pointing byLENGTH pointer nextdword (area-crossing pointer to datalength address) It isn't mentioned, but the length is word type. 3.word (DB number of the data destination) - this is the variable for pointing by D_DATA pointer nextdword (area-crossing pointer to datadestination address) I hope the E_TYPE is clear. So it's pretty difficult, pointing to pointers and so, I would recommend to learn the ANY pointer structure and use the BLKMOV (SFC20), it's much easier and if you'll use the symbolic addressing you have no trouble...
