Can I add CP 1542 - 5 to a fault tolerant/redundant CPU 1517 -H 3 PN.

Hi All,

Is it possible to attach a CP 1542 -5( Profibus DP Communication processor ) with fault tolerant / redundant CPU 1517-H 3 PN. 

When I try it with selection tool i get an error internal power output is insufficient for the backplane bus. What power supply should i add .

Thanks for your reply. I did try the configuration in TIA selection tool and was able to add the CP 1542-5 with the redundant configuration. In the link you provided the hardware restriction only talks about central I/O's are incompatible with CPU 1517-H 3 PN and not about CP. Can you please confirm if the CP 1542-5 is compatible or not with CPU 1517-H 3 PN. Please also provide any document stating if CP is incompatible with CPU CPU 1517-H 3 PN.

Even the warnings shown in the Tia Selection tool does not tell this.

How do I integrate my DP/PA Link with my fault tolerant CPU 1517-H 3 PN. Can DP/PA link be only integrated with S7 400 H CPU or is there any sort of Distributed I/O station with a PN Interface module to connect with my CPU 1517-H 3 PN. I also require this Distributed I/O station with a PN interface to accommodate a CP module with Profibus DP port so that I can connect it with my DP/PA link.

So I'm looking for a Distributed I/O station with Profinet IM module which can handle SM modules, CP modules with Profibus DP port so it also acts like a gateway for protocol conversion of Profinet to Profibus DP and vice versa.

If the above configuration fits please mention the article no's of Distributed I/O stn, IM module, CP module and SM modules.
