Can control stepper motor without using technology object in S7-1200?

The answer would depend on what type of amplifier / driver sits between the PLC and the stepper motor. A motion controller in the driver may need only analog signal and/or a run signal from the PLC. It would even be possible to regulate the PTO (pulse train output) without the technology object. But there is only 4 PTOs to work with. You will be out of luck if you wish to extend the frequency pulse (PTO) to more than 4. The pulse frequency that the PLC can generate in the user program is not dependable enough for a ramping (accelerate / decelerate) and running a stepper motor.
