“Hardware component not available due to a parameter assignment error”

In the portal project's hardware configuration for the main PLC, you have the opportunity to allow spare part equivalent modules to be accepted.

1. Open PLC "Device configuration" tab from project tree
2. Select middle lower pane, Properties tab -> General tab
3. Select Startup and review the "Comparison preset to actual configuration" option
4. Set to "Startup CPU even if mismatch" even though the other option _should_ work

Your actual (online) module (according to Siemens Industry Mall) is Spare Part Compatible with the PLC project's module (offline).

There may be something I'm missing.  Is there a FW 1.x available in V17 for the actual module?  If there is, it might be possible to revert that module's firmware to 1.x and get the PLC to startup even with a mismatched but compatible module.

Regardless, please submit an archive of your project and a link to this thread to Siemens Support -> Create new request.

Also, it should go without saying, but V17 was rather buggy at launch for quite a few people.  Be sure v17 has the latest available updates installed as Siemens may have already fixed this problem.

Hello, I recently got this error and I have no idea what to do. The wiring is fine and I was unable to find the way to update the hardware catalog in the Tia portal 17, that i can configure firmware version 2.0.
