What remote IO and extra hardware is connected to the S7-1200?

To test your basic license and PLCsim, create a *new* s7-1200 project.  Do not add any I/O or additional hardware like VFDs, remote IO, or HMIs.  Just the PLC.  Now compile hardware and software.  Now try the Online Simulation option and download to the PLC.

Hi all, 

I have an S7-1200 PLC in my program that I am trying to simulate, when I press the simulate button PLCSIM opens and asks if I would like to activate the STEP7 professional trial license, I press no and it again asks if I would like to activate the PLCSIM Advanced trial license and i say no. 

After that, it will try to ask again if I try to activate an S7-1200 instance. Is this normal? From what I understand the Basic license should be able to simulate an S7-1200 PLC. Or do I need a license even for the most simple simulation?

as far as i can remember there was an issue like that caused by version.
I am not a 100% sure which version it was, but it was fixed with an update.

So at first is suggest to check and install the latest updates for:

• used version of STEP 7
• PLCSIM for this version
  
• Automation License Manager

The ALM can be found with this link. For the updates of TIA (STEP7/PLCSIM) I can not provide links as we do not know which version is used. But it's worth a try anyways.

What happends if you delete the panel (backup project before delete...)?

Hi,

as already mentiond, i would try the updates personally. I know ther was something like that in the past.

Even If I am not sure if it was V18, it is still worth a try.

The updates can also be found here, most of the time the manual installation works better as TIA Admin.
