The below batch file solution will solve the topic title'd problem if that's the real problem.

However, it might actually create problems.

The correct way (or so I have been told by I.T. professionals), is to make a note of what's contained in that registry key's data.

1. Save it to a note somewhere easily accessed after software installation is completed.
2. Then find out if the file rename operations have already been completed.  If so, then delete each listed renaming in the list as you verify completed rename operations.
3. For any that still need doing, recreate that registry key and paste the remaining rename operations into the data for the key.
4. Reboot so windows can perform the pending file rename operations.
5. Afterwards, open that key and verify the data field is empty.  If not, then you can delete them because windows decided not to perform them - for whatever reason.

All that said, do *I* do this?  Not every time.  Alternatively what *I* do:

1. I do review the files needing renamed, giving windows one more restart to do them.  
2. Then I save off (to a file) then purge that reg key's data.  
3. If sometime later I experience system instability, I know I can restore (using System Restore), and also restore that registry key's data, and get back to a stable system again.

 This actually solved my problem in installing V17. I have tried to manually delete the entries following the F/Q but no success. Thanks for your sharing.

Dear all 

To avoid annoying notification and avoid to force restart when installing siemens softwares. You can try following code. 

Open new txt file on your computer. 

@echo off

REG DELETE "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager" /v PendingFileRenameOperations /f

REG QUERY "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager" /v PendingFileRenameOperations

@pause

Then save it. 

Then change file name XXX.Bat (you have to change file extention txt to bat) 

Then run it as adminastrator. 

This should solve the problem.
