Compiling error, invalid datatype for tag in HMI tag-table.

EricJacob11 Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Good Morning! So, I've tried to copy the startbutton that gets accepted with bool as datatype. Copied the button and changed the tag to the stop-tag that gets highlighted as not valid with bool as datatype. Still get the error, hard to understand why. See attachement. I have also problems with this, but only with physical IO's (Basic HMI and S71200/ET200s) Siemens support in Norway adviced me to recreate the problem tags in a new plc taglist. Delete from default tag-list, and wite the tag-names and address in a new tag-list (don't copy) Seems to be ok by this method. The bug is still there in TIA13

BrewCrew Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Thanks Carl S, I also had the same problem and your solution worked for me as well. I was using TIA Portal V12; S71215C DC/DC/RLY, and TP700 Comfort Panel. I also tried a few different S71212's with the same problem. (only inherent to the S712 family ??) I tried a CPU-315 instead for a Test and it worked like it should. (being able to drag a PLC tag on the HMI screen or HMI tag table without any of those miserable pink boxes! ) I sent my app to a Siemens Engineer who had V13 and he saw the same issues. Thanks a lot for the solution!! Nice work around for now.

pz1974 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I had the same issue with "Invalid data type for selected PLC" The cause of the problem was a wrong Connection which was set to the tag in HMI Tags default tag table. The Connection was changed somehow after removing HMI and adding it again in Devices&networks.

Menpe_Cerebro Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hello, I had the same problem with a 1214C V1.0 and a KTP600 Basic PN, after several unsuccessful attempts to solve it, I solved it by inserting a new device "KTP600 color Basic PN" and moving the screens or images to the new device, disappearing the error.
