Define Array with initial values

The syntax of your declaration is correct. Are you using it correctly? That is, are you writing it in the textual block interface?

More specifically, the correct syntax is the 2nd variant you tried. The one that uses the parentheses to declare the defaults. This can also be found in the manual.

At the moment I could only test with V18, but I had no problems there.

The simplest approach is to have TIA Portal build the external SCL file for you.

Create an FB with a tag A1 of type Array[1..3] of Real in the Static tag area.  This will allow you to assign default or start values.

Assign start values of 1.0, 2.0, 3.0.

Now right-click on the new FB and "Generate source from block" (or something like that).

Now you have a properly formatted SCL importable structure.  By design, it should import without issues.  Just be sure and use something like Notepad or Notepad++ to edit the SCL - rather than something like Word.  I'm sure you already know this, but others reading these forums may not.

Hi everybody,

I am working with SCL in TIA V17. I am trying to define initial values for an array. The format: A1 : Array [1..3] OF Real := 1.0, 2.0, 3.0; is not accepted. Creating a source file from a FB configured in STL, let me to try with square brackets. A1 : Array [1..3] OF Real := [1.0, 2.0, 3.0]; led to portal crashing on me when the second square bracket is entered. Any souls brave enough to reproduce my situation? Anybody that has managed to configure initial values for an array as a static variable?
