Program_Alarm on a 1200 series PLC

ChristianBonde Regular Member Joined: 8/29/2022 Last visit: 7/16/2025 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hi, I've been trying to make my own Dynamic Alarm Block similar to the "Program_Alarm" there is available on the 1500 series, on a 1200 series PLC. I can't seem to master it correctly, and was wondering if any of you have experimented with creating something similar. I'm having trouble with inserting the correct identification from my Control Module that controls the component i'm trying to get the ID from. Hope it makes sense Best Christian

Or, do you mean a device external to the PLC (like a Control Unit on a VFD)? I'm using a control module that we use in our company for controlling output & monitoring for components. The problem is that we designed them for use on the 1500s. And we need to downgrade them for the 1200 series, since we have a project where we need to use them. And we run into the problem that we can't use the integrated "Program_Alarm" FB on the 1200s, so i'm trying to figure out a way to make a similar dynamic alarm we can use instead.

Alternative option to downscaling to an S7-1200, would be to use an ET200 controller that has an S7-1500 based processor. That would cut down the (re)development process.

Its to update our control modules so we can drag and drop them into future projects. For being able to easily update two text lists and the HMI alarm will display the correct information. I have figured out a workaround where I move the logic into the HMI. Here I created two text lists one is for the component & another is for the alarm text. In the HMI Alarms I created an alarm with the alarm text being: <Text list, Id><Text list, Alarm_Names> And with a trigger tag by using a Word from the PLC. The thing I can't figure out is how to point to a single area in my text list through. So I can point to one component name and have different alarm words. Valve = V1 & Alarm = No feedback. Hopes it makes sense. Best Christian

I know it isn't available on the 1200 series, hence why I've been trying to recreate something similar. Properly test the solution you are thinking of. Special attention what happens if a message is already active and you wish to change the context of the message.
