Read the string from the PLC and store it in a DataLog.

Siemens STRING data are not appropriate for datalogs.  The first 2 bytes of a string tag are the max and actual length values associated with that tag.

Convert string to char array before writing to a datalog.

Check the Strings and char instructions for the appropriate string to char instruction.

Hello, I found this today and solved the "zero" problem.

Now, I want to read the string from the PLC and store it in a DataLog.

What I write: JONATHAN

At CLP: JONATHAN

In DataLog: OJ##HTAN 

Any suggestion?

something additional to Einsteins message. Getting code of the characters (e.g. with Excel):

O 79

J 74

 8

 15

H 72

T 84

A 65

N 78

Possibly you use STRING[15] for the user name and length of current string "JONATHAN" is 8. So string is not interpreted correctly by the HMI. Might be something about big and little endian.
