What is a "Transport Password"?

Could someone please explain in plain English what is a "Transport Password" for?

I checked the System Manual "Step 7 and WinCC Engineering V15". In chapter 15.2.1.5 (page 13862 of the whole document; page 2087 in paragraph 13 Visualizing processes) I found a description. For me it seems, that the connection between PLC and HMI can now be password protected (so they only communicate when the other has the same password?).

Someone already tried that (sorry, but I do not have V15, yet)?

The description you are giving sounds like the "access password". This has been there for quite a while already. I have used that before.

The manual says the following:

STEP 7 and WinCC Engineering V15, page 2088

You have now configured the password for transport. If a password for transport has been
configured and you transfer the project to the HMI device, a dialog with a password prompt
will appear once in runtime.

If the password entered is correct, the certificate is saved in the certificate store of the HMI
device.

When you change the password, load the project with the changed password into the HMI
device and start Runtime. No password prompt appears.

 What does this mean? Does this mean that it does not protect the HMI, it protects that the wrong password be programmed into the HMI?

I had same problem, the transport pass apeared to me after rebuilding all project. in runtime settings > transport password > and reset password. then save your project.
