Discussion: LAD or SCL

In terms of training, I have a university degree in automation and a master's degree in robotics and control systems. At university, the professors were fossils who taught us what they probably studied about programming 40 years ago, so I'm not going to take it into account. In the master's degree, the professors were at a high level and, moreover, they were working, which means they were up to date with the technology. I have also worked in two companies, which means that, in my brief experience, I have seen quite a few types of programmes. At university we were taught the different programming languages (LAD, Graph, SCL, SFL), but we didn't go into any of them in depth. When I started working in my first company, everything was done with SCL and, in the master's degree, I programmed robots (with their own programming language, similar to SCL) and artificial vision (Matlab). As for PLCs, we did everything with SCL. Now I am working in another company where practically everything is done in LAD. I have to admit that adapting to LAD has been a bit difficult for me, as each condition is very well understood, but to find it I spend a lot of time moving around within the different programmes. I understand that once you get used to it, acquiring tricks and habits, you end up entrenching yourself, like everything in this world, but the truth is that I find it lazy to make the step. And here is an example: After the sermon and to get rid of this frustration, my questions are: Why SCL<LAD? What do you think about it? What parts of the program do you like to do with each language? Will LAD disappear in the future or will it still be maintained? Refrain from closed-minded people who think they are better than everyone else.
