GaJEnDrA D S Silver Member Joined: 8/9/2011 Last visit: 10/8/2025 Posts: 325 Rating: (19)	Hi, I want to have a string of maximum length of 10 bytes (10 chars) but default size is 256 bytes. Because of this my work memory is 100% for 12% of load memory. Array of char is not the option as iam using it for datalogging whiere data input of the Logging instruction doesnt support data type struct nested more than a layer. Pls suggest me.

Defining the data type as "String" will use the maximum characters. Using "String[20]" tells the system to limit this to 20 characters. The memory footprint is however +2 bytes more. The first two bytes are USINT numbers for (1) size of string (2) how many characters occupies space. For your case you will have 10 instead of 20. Regards.

BUT THE PROBLEM IS I AM FACING ISSUES AFTER LOADING THE RECIPE ONLY THE FIRST DATA IN THE DB IS LOADED WITH VALUES ENTERED IN THE RECIPE TAG OTHER ALL TAGS ARE NOT BEEN WRITTEN WITH THE VAUES ENTERED IN THE RECIPE TAGS I AM GETTING ERROR IN HMI SAYING "MORE THEN 5 RECIPE TAGS CANNOT BE WRITTEN TO THE PLC" PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS .......
