HMI SD CARD STORAGE ALARM

If you would make your own WinAPI program, it would be able to read actual SD card size and size of the files, program could be automatic and run on the back. This is something i would not recommend, because it is not that simple to make and there is some problems with these programs.

 Pretty easy way to calculate combined file size in given folder.

There can be some mistakes in the code, haven tested. Also it is only a demo, not necessarily what i would use.

I don't know if there is a specific manual to do this. You should learn VB file handling in general.

You can also get file size FileSystemObject(fso).FileLen(path).

Update after testing:

If one would apply this or similar method to calculate file sizes, it is surprisingly slow.  It works fine with couple hundred files.

I have 1500 pdf's with total size of 250Mb (small total size) and getting total size takes about 40 seconds, not optimal. I knew it would be slow but...I use USB, not SD. And with scripts you don't know it is executing unless you set and reset some loading bit in script.

I of course save file size after generation and add it to total size. But sometimes there might be need for checking size.

Tried running Windows-based sample script from this link but doesn't return Path and Result value. I'm using WinCC Advanced V15.1 (PC Station).
I browsed this thread and found screenshot from GUWS which returned directory (Windows CE).

I was searching function which detects media, like SD Card or Flash drive, if present or not prior to execute copy of logs.

And i am confused the difference between Windows CE panel vs Windows Panel , i am thinking that windows CE refers to be HMI panels And windows is refer to be scada panel i am right ? please confirm

Hi,

You are just getting the drive object to a variable, result is what you are returning.

Result returns 0 if specified path is available. In other words if you can instantiate the drive object. Otherwise you get some error number, which you can check from VBS documentation if you like. Usually it is good enough to assume that drive or file does not exist.

You can get all available drives like in code snippet. But if you are checking if some drive exist you don't need to get any paths, you need to provide it.
