TIA Portal V17 and PLCSIM Advanced cannot connect - incompatible device

Hi,

TIA Portal V17 fails to connect to PLCSIM Advanced (V4.0) even though the device configuration on the project matches the PLCSIM configuration. I use Siemens virtual ethernet adapter and get incompatible device error. 

The only workaround I found is restarting Windows. I have tried combinations of restarting PLCSIM and TIA Portal or just the TIA project only. I am not sure if the error is accurate since it's on PLCSIM and restarting without changing config results in a successful connection.

In this case, I would recommend you review the restrictions detailed in the next section of the PLCSIM Advanced V4.0 manual, as they usually cause this incompatibility error.

In this case, I figured Cisco CheckPoint VPN was interfering with the connection between TIA Portal and PLCSIM Advanced. Even though they are on different subnets, cutting the VPN connection solves the issue.

In other cases, checking restrictions would be helpful.
