automatically synch DTL on PLC

Do you have the NTP server IP configured in the hardware configuration of your PLC?  If so, you can review the PLC's diagnostics buffer to find the NTP time sync issue and possibly find out what is required to correct the problem.

Is the NTP server in the same subnet as the PLC?

If not, you need to configure the PLC networking to use a router and give it the IP of the correct router.  Or, expand the subnet mask to include the IP of the NTP server (usually this is a very bad idea).

So, my issue is the other way around, I have the box checked and I have an ntp server configured but the PLC time gets off after about 30 days, I need to come back every time and click apply to synch the DTL on the PLC. I'm not sure what else needs to be done to have it automatically updating the date and time, I even added a Time of the day interrupt and nothing.

I understand your issue now ;-)

The function Set time has nothing to do with the cpu automatically updating its time.

This is used only for a manual setting of the time.

Automatic update of the time is a hardware setting in the cpu and must be changed in the hardware settings and downloaded.

In case the cpu does not behave as expected, perhaps a reset to factory will help ;-)
