Issues connecting S7-1200 to TIA Portal

Last week i got myself a S7-1200 PLC (1215C DC/DC/rly  6ES7215-1HG40-0XB0) and a ET200SP IO Device just to play around. i had no issues connecting it to my PC when i got it, i could download and upload programs to it no problems. yesterday i suddently cant connect to it anymore, the PLC and IO device shows up in online access, but only with the "Online & Diagnostics" option, i can change the ip of the PLC successfully, and i can ping it in CMD, my PC and the PLC is also on the same subnet.

Ive tried opening a new project, and do the hardware detect, i shows up in the window,  but the second i press detect it just give me this error. 

Any suggestions to what can cause this?

May I suggest for both your work laptop and desktop to get a USB/LAN adapter for use with PLC / control network / device connections.

Your work network settings will not interfere or block your ability to set IPv4 settings on the USB/LAN adapter - provided you have access to local admin account / rights (which I assume you do).

Just a bit of an update on this! haven't resolved the issue yet 100% but ive tried connecting to it with my work laptop instead of my desktop, and i was able to connect to the PLC and do a factory reset. so must be an issue with my desktop network, its due for a wipe anyways so maybe that will resolve the issue

 

 Yea, already have one those, so going forward ill connect through that one
