String to array of bytes?

Hi, i have been looking around the internet for an example how to convert a string to a byte array, none works that i have tried.

One of them came from siemens help pages online:

"3DVision_DB".sendData := CHAR_TO_BYTE(STRING_TO_CHAR('Search 1020\r\n'));

 And the error i get is just "Invalid assignment"

"3DVision_DB".sendData seems to be an array of bytes, I guess.

So you are assigning a single byte to an array of bytes.

Try following, it will calm down the compiler at least.

"3DVision_DB".sendData[0] := CHAR_TO_BYTE(STRING_TO_CHAR('Search 1020\r\n'));

Next thing, once you find out it is not doing completely what you want, is RTFM on STRING_TO_CHAR and CHAR_TO_BYTE. And finally you might be lucky to find Strg_to_chars...

Just use the function Strg_TO_Chars
