SFC 20 - what is RET_VAL?

d00 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi everyone, I am new with the Step 7. 1) I am trying to use the SFC 20, I can understand the SRCBLK and DSTBLK, but what is the function RET_VAL and how to set it up? 2) We want to read 20 PIW. How to read all of the PIW in a single loop and stored them in DB block? Is there a built-in function in S7 to do that? Thanks

Hi, See online help of Step 7. It's integer meaning a return value, if an error occurs when the function is being executed, the return value contains an error code. d00 2) We want to read 20 PIW. You can find more info here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/es/1214574/0/en 2) The built-in solution doesn't exist but you have two solutions at least: a) Make your own "loop function" with the Step7 LOOP instruction b)If youuse a S7-400 you coulduse the fuction SFC26 in order to update the partial process image (updatea PAE partial area)and after that a regular SFC20 call movingthe updatedPAE area Regards
