Analog Output Failure

Peter L Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	Hello Everybody Please can anybody help with the following. We have a analog output card failure on a ET200 SC, I have modifed the hardware configuration to remove the faulty card and we have hard wired to a spare analog output card in the main CPU rack. My problem is this, when I open the FB and modify the PQW to a the new address the block can not be saved or downloaded as there is a conflict. The conflict apears to be a nothing to do with the PQW address change and apears to be a address pointer P#DB12.DBX.0.0. Even when I change the PQW back to the orignal value the block can still not be down loaded or saved due to conflict. I have checked back through previous saved versions of our programe and they all contain P#DB12.DBX0.0, even online this address is present. The programe has been operational for over 6 years, but the OEMhas now shutdown (so no chance of advice from them). As soon as I try to modify anything in this FB it can no longer be saved even when the values are returned to their orignal values. Is there a way of reading a value of PQW and therefore writing the same value to a different PQW. Any help is greatly appreciated. Kind Regards P. Lovell

Sydney Gold Member Joined: 1/4/2008 Last visit: 12/22/2025 Posts: 703 Rating: (98)	Hello Peter, I haven't understood which conflict you wrote about, but it seems that some trouble with the program is there for alonger time, maybe from the beginning. If you aren't so familiar with the program and if it worked correctly with the old PQW address, the easiest way for me would be to change the HW configuration - this PQW address assign to other sparemodule if it's possible (depends on modules used and their occupancy) or just replace the module witha new (or spare)of the same type. If you'd like to repair the program, think we would need some more information about the conflict, what is the error message, how is this pointer used, if possible then some screenshot or project backup. Peter L Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	Hello Sydney Thank you for your response, I wrote the forum thread while pulling out my hair trying to remidy a breakdown. I will try to elaborate as mentioned we hard a hardware failure of a analoge card(6ES7 124 1FA00 0AB0), we had no spare part. Therefore we removed the faulty card and changed the hardware configuration. This removed the fault light from the PLC and ET200L SC, we then hard wired from a different analoge card in the main CPU rack to the existing control loop changed the hardware configuration to set up the new channel on the card and downloaded this configuration. This was all OK. I then located the PQW260 in the programme (this is the address of the orignal analog card) and changed the address to the new analog card). This is when the problems started after changing only network 14 of FB51 OUT62 from PQW260 to PQW368 the block could not be saved and downloaded due to the following error: Network 14 (34:40) Compiler information :type conflict When you click OK it takes you to Network 14 IN16 P#DB12.DBX0.0 As already mentioned if you go online this network is present and active in the programme as it is controlling 3 analog outputs. Therefore I still have a problem that I can not modify the programme to suit my hardware changes. Is there away of reading a PQW value and assigning to a different PQW, instead of trying to change this FB51? SteveA Posts: 297 Rating: (42)	The problem is not related to the analog output, it is the input parameter IN16 that is causing the problem. It is expecting a STRUCT, and it doesn't like the bit pointer. It doesn't help that there is no symbol information in the data blocks. If you change the input parameter IN16 to DB12.STAT0, it should allow you to save and download the block. Hope this helps, SteveA

Can you please enlighten me as to why the block FB51 is present online with the address DB12.DBX0.0 but can not be saved or downloaded with this address. As you will of gathered from the lack of symbol information, I am in the postion of having to support the PLC without the orignal programme( the OEM has ceased trading) I have been adding symbols when I understand there use. Is the uploading of the program from the PLC or the fact that the symbolic data being missingthe reason for these errors with the address's and therefore going to present within a large quantity of the program. I am still interested if anybody knows if it possible to readthe value of a PQW and therefore be able to assign this value to another PQW. Thank you again Steve Kind Regards P. Lovell

Yes, the problem is because of an upload and missing symbolics, but what can you do with, have to work withwhatyou have now... As Steve wrote, the block input is a structute of 24 integer numbers so the actual parameter have to satisfy this for the compiler. Imho the best solution is to give the symbolic namesto the DB12and its variables (if you still don'tknow their meaning for good naming, you can substitute the name with some universal name for now) then you canuse the symbolic name of the structure inside the DB12 as the actual parameter for that input oras a quick solution without the symbolics you can write there P#DB12.DBX 0.0 BYTE 48. And the other answer: you can't use the PQW as input for the MOVE instruction in LAD/FBD or by analogy you can't use the load instructionwith the PQW as the address in STL. Even if it could be used it wouldn't be so good solution. Regards Sydney
