connect Encoder without DRIVE-CliQ

hac_am2003 Posts: 27 Rating: (0)	Hi There I am designing a crane system with SIMOTION D435 Ver.4.0 & SINAMICS S120. But i want to solve my problem : i have an encoder without DRIVE-CLiQ interface. Please help me to connect the encoder for controling my motor, of course not use Sensor Module Cabinet-Mounted (SMC 10, 20, 30). And please let me know : instead of DRIVE-CLiQ interface, which way we can connect an encoder to Motor Mudule. Thank you very much

On SIMOTION you can connect encoder via PROFIBUS or PROFINET but the encoders only communicate with the SIMOTION not with the SINAMICS. Regards Christoph

hac_am2003 Posts: 27 Rating: (0)	thanks therefore with my system, i will connect encoder with D435 via PROFIBUS. Please give me an example to do this, for closed - loop velocity control. I wonder if that is : take the value from Status words of Encoder and asign it to Control Word of a Drive. Thanks

ChristophD Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 5/12/2006 Last visit: 1/12/2026 Posts: 22818 Rating: (3073)	Hello, configure the axis that the setPoint chanel is send to Drive and the encoder chanel is connected to the DP-Encoder. Mount the encoder on the motor and now you have a closed loop for this axis in SIMOTION. But SÍNAMICS can't get the encodervalue from the DP-Encoder, this value only avaiable on the SIMOTION. You can't copy the Encoder Statusword to the SINAMICS as control word, this wouldn't work ! In the case above the sinamics work without encoder. Regards Christoph

I tried to configure the Axis with encoder channel form DP-Encoder as following: + Creat a drive (Servo_3) using Wizard and the drive is servo with encoder, all steps are ok + Creat an axis and at the encoder assignment step, in the "Where is the position encoder connected" input field, i chose "Input module for encoder value" instead of others and then the log.HW addresses is the address of the input for Encoder value from PROFIBUS DP. Som after finishing configuration , a error appeared : Faulty configuration (parameter : TypeOfAxis.NumberOfEncoder.dscEncoderNumber,value :1.....) Please help me to solve this. How to configuration DP Encoder with encoder channel as you wrote. I wonder if the log.HW addresses when configuring the encoder for an Axis is the input which received from PROFIBUS DP. Thanks sir

This Encoder must be created/Connfigured in HWConfig on a DP Mastersystem of SIMOTION. In your Case the only way i see is the use of a SMC Modul on SINAMICS. Regards Christoph
