Does the processor have to stop to download this type of change?

Does the processor have to stop to download this type of change? I want to de-activate a channel but the process is running and there is never anytime to actually stop the processor without a big hassle. Splitted from Analog -input/output wire break. |

Hello Kris C, 1- The answer depends on what type of processor (CPU) you have. For S7-300 it is not possible to mess with hardware configuration without stopping the CPU. For S7-400 it is possible to do it either you have S7-400 with CIR (Configuration In Run) or you have S7-400H. 2- Why do you want to de-activate a channel when it's activated? The 2 things you will achieve will be: A- getting rid of false diagnostics (Wire break) and you can get rid of it by some resistor without deactivating channels. B- Decreasing analog modulecycle timeby few milli or micro secondswhich is a tiny time in process that can't be stopped for couple of minutes to download a hardware configuration. Best regards. H-H |
