I have some UDTs and I tried to download them to CPU 315. But it didn´t work!

mmckay Posts: 247 Rating: (65)	Mr. Ribeiro: UDT's declare a data structure, but don't actually allocate any storage. Therefore they don't get loaded into the PLC. What they are used for is to declare DB variables of the UDT type in Step 7. Once these variables are declared, the containing DB can be loaded into the PLC without need for the UDT. The UDT should be kept in the Step 7 project source, so that references to variables of the UDT type can be checked for consistency. Regards, Murray

You then have created a number of DBs based on UDT1, and dowloaded them to the PLC. Now, you change the structure of UDT1, say by adding a few BOOL registers. Now, the DBs of type UDT1 that are in your program no longer match UDT1. This is why they will signal a programming error. You must regenerate (erase and generate again) the DBs of tyoe UDT1, or your CPu will refuse to function properly. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
