toufik72 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	We have two identical systems based on the plc siemens simatic step 7 With CPU 315-DP a switch to toggle between the two when the first execution in the second remains in the first instance this system malfunctions I want to read the program from the second record is in the first We have no program source We have the simatic step 7 v 5.4 is what I use this with a lap top there are two DB9 connector on both communication cable installed in the system that takes a designation MP1 and DP

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 12/29/2025 Posts: 12477 Rating: (2722)	Hello toufik; Dowloading and uploading from a Siemens PLC is very weel explained in the mmanual "Programming with step 7, v.5.4"; it isavailable on the computer whereyou installed Step 7 (under Simatic, Documentation); you can also dowload it from this link: Programming with STEP 7 V5.4 The "normal" programming port of the PLC is the MPI port (multi-purpose interface), which communictaes over RS-485. You will need some kind of programming cable/lead to communicate from your laptop to the PLC. such as the USB-PC adapter (part number 6ES7972-0CB20-0XA0 ), or a MPI/Profibus communication processor. Note that if you do not have a backup of the program on your PC, you will not retrieve the symbol table or the comments of the program, which tends to make your understanding of the controls quite difficult.
