High Speed Counter 350-1 simple count, Step-7 V5.5 No FC2

Kevlar Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	I want a simple counts per revolution from an incremental encoder using a High Speed counter card 350-1. CPU=319, Step-7 V5.5 sp1. I've seen reference to FC2 CNT_CTL1, the FC2 I have in my library is something else. I found SFB29 HS_Count. I don't even need direction. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Installing the Parameterization Interfaces To install the configuration package: 1. Place the supplied CD in the CD drive of your programming device / PC. 2. Start the program "Setup.exe". 3. Follow the operating instructions provided by the installation program. Important information about the installation can be found in the readme file. Result The components of the configuration package are installed in the following directories: ● SIEMENS\STEP7\S7LIBS\FMx501LIB: FCs, UDTs ● SIEMENS\STEP7\S7FCOUNT: Configuring software, Readme, Online help ● SIEMENS\STEP7\EXAMPLES:Examples ● SIEMENS\STEP7\S7MANUAL\S7FCOUNT: Getting Started, manuals Note If you selected a directory other than SIEMENS\STEP7 when you installed STEP 7, that directory will be entered. the manual : http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1086726 Regards, Marcjan

Kevlar Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Marcjan, I have configured a FM 350-1 High Speed Counter input as attached .jpg. All I want to do is continually count pulses to determine speed of a roller. I used 'RPM' and selected a PPR value for the encoder. Can I then simply use DBx word 14 (DINT) Count_Value in my program. Do I need job numbers or S/W interrupts, etc? With Thanks. Dear Kevlar, Have a look at the manual. (See link mentioned by Marcjan) Chapter 5.7, here you find how to read out some values without using FC's. So have a look in HW configuration, there are 16 Input/Output bytes reserved. Example the input address start at 256. You can read PID260, (Actual countvalue) Best regards, Wizard
