connecting to PLC DB in simulation

MKS02 Posts: 24 Rating: (0)	Hi When I connect a HMI tag to a I/O field and give it a start value. I can see the value in simulation. But when I connect a PLC global data block address location with a start value. The I/O field only displays #### in simulation. Is there a way to simulate this? So I can visually see if it works?

The XXX means the HMI cannot read the variable, no communication or variable is not found in PLC. Regards, Marcjan

You see '####' if value is too big for I/O field or there is no connection with PLC. Have you really connected HMI to PLC ? Is your PLC also simulated or real PLC ?

MKS02 Posts: 24 Rating: (0)	I didn't connect a real pc to it. I just used the wincc simulator. But I might use the plc sim if it shows me if it works. Don't have a real plc with me at the moment.

But I might use the plc sim if it shows me if it works. Don't have a real plc with me at the moment. So that's why you see '####'. You need at least PLC simulation to see something. Also you can run HMI with tags simulator. In that case you will not have PLC simulated, but tags WILL be simulated and you can make some tests on it. Only difference will be that those tags will not run on any PLC logic. If it fits your need then just run HMI sumulation with tags simulator property.

If you want to proccess that values with some logic, you need at least PLC simulator.
