howto detect "module not available"?

Case: Configured system : CPU 312C, 2x Digital output 32DO Physical system : CPU 312C, 1x Digital output 32DO With this the controller doesn't go to system fault state. It's running normally. I want to be able to detect the missing module in code. Is that possible?

You can find the sample program for this in manual of a module. As of now I have limited access to www ( only phone) but will chip in with more when I get full access.
