S7-1200 BLKMOV similar function any?

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1204)	BryanG2001 Here is my first attempt at a Block Move routine in SCL. It works by Byte, you could replace PEEK with PEEK_WORD or PEEK_DWORD and POKE with POKE_BLK. If you aren't working with DB memory then set DBNumber to 0 and DB must be non optimsed. Thank you Bryan. My suggestion would be to use.. POKE_BLK(area_src:=_in_, dbNumber_src:=_in_, byteOffset_src:=_in_, area_dest:=_in_, dbNumber_dest:=_in_, byteOffset_dest:=_in_, count:=_in_); Everything you need should be there already; no for-loop required. Also.. "..the PEEK and POKE instructions merely transfer data. They have no knowledge of data types at the addresses." - - which is kinda what was asked for. (no sarcasm implied) For others who are curious I suggest reading: S7-1200 Programmable controller, System Manual, 04/2012 pages 160 - 162 Is there someone out there who could confirm that this would work to solve this issue?

Inputs fromTagArea Byte TagArea to copy from fromDBNumber DInt DB to copy from, 0 from non DB locations fromStartByte DInt Starting byte to copy from NumberOfBytes DInt Number of bytes to copy toTagArea Byte TagArea to copy to toDBNumber DInt DB to copy to, 0 from non DB locations toStartByte DInt Starting byte to copy to [code]// TagArea for Inputs is B#16#81 // TagArea for Outputs is B#16#82 // TagArea for M is B#16#83 // TagArea for DB is B#16#84 // For any other TagArea than DB use 0 as the DBNumber POKE_BLK(area_src:=#fromTagArea, dbNumber_src:=#fromDBNumber, byteOffset_src:=#fromStartByte, area_dest:=#toTagArea, dbNumber_dest:=#toDBNumber, byteOffset_dest:=#toStartByte, count:=#NumberOfBytes); [/code] Seems to work well, I have used it to map Analogue Inputs to a DB. I haven't tested the limits and so don't know the maximum 'count' value, in theory as it is a DI it can be a very large number.

Seems to work well, I have used it to map Analogue Inputs to a DB. I haven't tested the limits and so don't know the maximum 'count' value, in theory as it is a DI it can be a very large number. So I assume the code has been tested with a PLC. I am left to wonder how long such a "copy" command takes to execute. Thank you Bryan! your efforts confirms something for me, which is important for a future project.

Everything is set up on the bench to allow me to test. My original Block Copy program was an extension for one that clears DB values, that Function has to have a While loop.

Any reason why you don't simply use the built-in POKE_BLK function as you mention by yourself, instead of creating your own function? The while loop will be quite inefficient compared to the built-in POKE_BLK
