When I/R module Ready relay changes?

PISCEAN 2010 Posts: 8092 Rating: (884)	Hello Experts, Controller is 802 D PL with 611 U drives.UE module MLFB number is 6SN1145-1AA01-OAA2. Intermittently I/R module not ready message is displayed. When this message gets displayed GREEN LED Device not ready LITS & no any other LED is ON(LIT). Module capacity is 10/25 Kw with 2 nos, 11 Nm capacity servo motors are connected on this infeed module. No spinlde drive is fed from this DC bus. Ac input supply is 415 volt 3 phase. This is running machine from last 5 years. I have observed the LED status on infeed module & didnot found any RED Fault LED ( Electronics power supply failed or DC link over voltage) lits during failuer of infeed module. This failuer is faced intermittently/randomly at any time. (So chances of overshooting of DC bus are not present) Checked PLC logic for malfunction of infeed module enable connection, these too found ok. Checked & tightend all connections. Infeed module pulse enable signals are in series with line contactor. ( Terminal 9 & 63 in series with terminal 111 & 113) My question is when output contact 72, 73.1 gets change over at which condition?

Ekalavya Posts: 2964 Rating: (485)	Hello, The Connector X111 is potential free relay contact....thre connections what you are using is NO contact that is on the terminal 72(NO contact)73.1(input)...Here you need to give 24 v to the connecter 73.1 from any relay input and from the drive 72 output should come this i can take as inout in the CNC and use as Drive Ready.... but this totaly going to depend upon the switch setting what is kept inside....you can find it on the top...there are 6 dip switch settings... Here you need to look in to the switch 2 --> OFF --> Ready Signal switch 2 -->ON ---> Fault Signal Check it out.. Regards, Prakash

Switch 2 is OFF ----> Ready signal. But I am facing intermittent/random problem of "I/R module not ready". I checked all the conditions, as mentioned earlier, & those found healthly. So how this malfunction happens? I consulted Siemens also, they ruled out malfunction of I/R module & its relay. So now the question is, how to find out the main culprit? Ekalavya Posts: 2964 Rating: (485)	Hello, Have you checked the input given to the 73.1 from relay whether the 24v supply is given properly here. When you have fault condition when your drive is not getting ready have checked the 72 terminal the output should come. if the output is not coming then it could be fault in the module i mean in the X111 connector... What you can do here is you can temporary should the input that is 73.1 to 72 and check whether the module is healthy or not. It will be healthy....Then it will be confirmed the output is not coming from the drive that is in the terminal 72. Hope this is clear now... Regards, Prakash

PISCEAN 2010 Posts: 8092 Rating: (884)	Hello, I checked what you mentioned & found OK. Also I shorted the relay output contacts & tseted for 3 days. During this period neither the I/R module goes to not ready state nor system displayed any alarm, i.e. machine run smoothly. ( Also to confirm relay malfunction I conected realy across X 111 terminal 73.1 & 72 & made a logic to latch the relay even if the contacts change over. While doing so PLC Input of I/R ready contacts were isolated.) But during this test, not a single time relay contact changed. This itself clears that I/R module is Ok (Relay too) So I am surprised & wanted to know at what conditions, probable reasons relay changes? Regards, DEEP.

But again when I connected the original logic, the problem occured. Moreover this problem is not contineous, it comes intermittently. Once in a day or some times 2-3 times in shift. Its strange

PISCEAN 2010 Posts: 8092 Rating: (884)	Hello, Today again we faced the same problem. From last week what I have observed is, whenever this problem has occured, DC link voltage found 605-606 DC volt. (S1.1 switch is ON, line supply voltage is 415 Volt AC +/- 10%, so as per manual max DC voltage 625 V)Because of momentory increase in AC voltage because of spikes, DC voltage may shoot up causing I/R module to fail. But then logically, module should indicate DC busover voltage indication, which is not. How much time for overvoltage is allowedby control circuit to measuer & trip module? Could this be the reason for triping of I/R module?
