Disable HSC in S7-1200

atao1 Posts: 5 Rating: (2)	Hi all, I would like to disable the HSC in the logic in S7-1200 PLC. I used to able to do in S7-200 PLC by setting SMB37.7 (for HSC1) to 0 and hte HSC1 will be disable. But I cannot find hte instrution how to do it in S7-1200. Is it possible to disable the HSC in the PLC of 1215C? Thanks

Thanks If you want the HSC never to operate, just disable in the hardware configuration, download the hardware and software changes to the plc - done. If you want to change it from off to on and on to off, you need to use the CTRL_HSC instruction. While in an active portal editing window, find the F1 key, press it, type in CTRL_HSC and you will see how it works. You can also search for that phrase in these forums to get even more details from those more experienced than you and me.

atao1 Posts: 5 Rating: (2)	I used the ctrl_hsc and it only reset the CV, RV and DIR. It won't disable the counting. I need to stop the counting at certain condition and re-start the counting again later.

I need to stop the counting at certain condition and re-start the counting again later. I think I understand how you want to use the counter input. Unfortunately, you cannot place a HSC on hold or pause it other than disable the input from switching states. You could wire your HSC input through a relay controlled by a plc output. Then you would be able to disable the counter from continuing past some predetermined point. Unlike the PTO/PWM, you cannot turn off a HSC, though you might be able to trick it into remaining right where it is by having the counter count up and down around the current count, basically using the CTRL_HSC quite a lot to toggle around that pause point.

atao1 Posts: 5 Rating: (2)	Thanks. I have a feeling that cannot be done but hope that I just didn't find the right command. I am going to move the HSC count value to a buffer like MD1000 and detach the interupt. Then use the CTRL_HSC to move the MD1000 to the new CV and attach the interupt again. I guess this is just one of the work around. Hope in the future Siemens will add disable funtion to the new firmware.
