TIA Portal Upgrade from V12 to V13 Deleted HMI

Mike.Mc Posts: 46 Rating: (8)	I have V13 loaded and am trying to use it. When I upgrade a project from V12 to V13 I lose my HMI ini the project tree. This top graphic is before the upgrade. You can see HMI_1 in the tree: The lower graphic is after the upgrade. HMI_1 is gone! I’ve tried it with several applications. Some work, some do not. I have tried it by upgrading automatically after opening it and by doing it manually after opening it as a V12 project. I've tried recompliling before upgrading. The HMI disappears. I had a semi-similar experience brining in a WinCC 2008 project into V13. I sent to Siemens Support and they upgraded and sent it back to me. I asked what they did and oddly enough, they went through V12 to get to V13, which is precisely what you are doing, except you had to same result as me -- no upgrade. Is your WinCC V13 at least the same level as your V12? Or, like me, do you have a professional V13 portal, and basic V13 WinCC and try to upgrade a non-basic HMI? Just curious if it's just me that gets all the license issues and software installs out of sync. Do you also have the latest update applied to V13 (I think that's currently update 3)?

Some upgrade, others get the HMI deleted. Only the HMI, never the PLC. I sent one application to our local tech support to see if he can upgrade it. I am using WIN 7, 64 bit.

Did you review the migration log in the output pane and get any ideas why the hmi was not being migrated?

Create a project with the device likes yours in V12.0 and open it in V13.0 UPD3. There are no problems , all HMI devices in the Three You can lock on the conversionlog.xml in the project directory of the original project if any error occurs . Regards Christoph

Here is the log. The system thinks it has successfully upgraded the project! But the HMI is gone.

Mike.Mc Posts: 46 Rating: (8)	RESOLVED! Our local tech support guy found the answer. The HMI has to be upgraded to V12 in the project before upgrading. Select HMI, change device, select new V12 version and save. When downloaded it upgrades the HMI firmware.

Mike.Mc Posts: 46 Rating: (8)	Some of my applications are upgrading while keeping the V11 HMI configuration. In others the HMI gets deleted. But changing it to V12 before the upgrade seems to be working. I have dozens of applications. I hope this fixes this bug. I wasted about 5 hrs on it.
