PC\PPI cable older version, pls answer

kasun Posts: 28 Rating: (1)	I have a PC\PPI with 6 dip switches which has following indications on it's face. dip swich no. descripion 1,2,3 baud rate configurations 4 1- 10 bit 0- 11 bit 5 1-DTE 0-DCE 6 1- RTS for XMT 0- RTS always I know how to configure baud rate.Can anybody tell me how to set other dip switches for Free port communication. The cable in the S7200 manual refers to RS232/PPI cable with 8 dip switches. I have the older version, PC/PPI with 6 dip switches.In manual it is clearly indicated that for RS232/PPI cable it is possible to do freeport communication by setting switch 5 to 0. But I couldnt find configurations for PC/PPI cable. dip switches are described as shown in the above post.(dip switch 5 does not say 1=PPI, 0=PPI/Free port,it says 1=DTE, 0=DCE which i think indicates local or remote mode of operation which is same as the dip switch 6 of the RS232/PPI cable) thankz.

Hi, Correct me if I'm wrong, but this should be in the S7-200 System Manual. Set switch 5 to 0 (zero), see this link. I forgot this: You need at least a 6ES7 901-3BF20-0XA0.

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, try this settings: 1-3 baudrates depending on your setting. 4: your protocoll settings 10 or 11 bit. 8N1 is 10 bit 8E1 is 11 bit for example 5: should be ON (remote) 6 should work with both settings but if 0 then the PLC can start communicating if the earlier com request is not finished. So I would sugest to switch it to 1. I hope this helps. Regards Helmut
