Change IOT2040 Gateway

HI!

I need to change the IOT 2040 gateway. I know how to change the IP and the netmask but I don't know how to change the gateway.

I had the same doubt on how to set the gateway for the IOT.

I have now set the gateway but unable to install the npm node red. 

I had earlier saw in another forum topic which had asked me to ping www.google.com.

I have tried to ping www.google.com but then the reply was ping: bad address 'www.google.com'

I have tried to ping my own engineering PC (i am able to ping this from the putty connection).

I now don't understand what is blocking me from pinging www.google.com & also installing the npm.

I understand that may the internet connection is not available yet for the IOT (not sure on what else setting need to be done to get the IOT connected to the internet.

To use the internet connection i need to have a static ip for my iot device & engineering PC (which i have already set for both together with the gateway).

Can anyone here advise me how & what else are the procedure to this to the next level.

Hi cmediano,

just type in  

nano /etc/network/interfaces

 and add the line gateway to the interface to change.

For example: 

iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.0.97
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.0.1

What IOT are you using?

When you have the IOT2040, you should connect your PC to the left port and give this one a static IP adress, while you connect the right port to a router and give it a dhcp configured IP adress.
