Comparing DATA within a DB

Hi All,

Quick explanation of the process..

We are scanning multiple products and storing the data into DB(X).

We are then transferring the data into DB(Y) and storing it. Each Scan is allocated to different start address within DB(Y).

DBY is setup:

Partnumber01 (Type:BYTE Length:27) DB(Y).DBB0 - DB(Y).DBB26

PartNumber02 (Type:Byte Length:27) DB(Y).DBB27 - DB(Y).DBB54

etc..

I want to target Partnumber01 and compare it to Partnumber02 to ensure they are not equal.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

can you provide us more Information? Which PLC do you use? Which Version of Step7?

Richard,  Try this... I didn't test, but I think this will work.

If your DB is structured i think you could just compare structures in scl.

tPartsEQ := "DB_Y".Partnumber01 = "DB_Y".Partnumber02;

even better if you got array of structures;

tPartsEQ := "DB_Y".Partnumber[1] = "DB_Y".Partnumber[2];

All your answers were useful in the end i found the block detailed within the attached PDF.

This function was exactly what i needed for comparrisson of scan data.

I cam across this post while searching for a similar function. Apparently there is now a standard function in TIA (I am using V14 SP1) called CompType which will do the trick

Where IN1 and IN2 can be Type ANY and the relation can be selected for either EQ or NEQ

I hope this will help someone somewhere.
