Trouble with FC40 time-S5time converting

I am trying to load a time value into a standard S5Timer from an HMI. I want the operator to be able to enter a standard number say 3.2sec. in my program I convert that to ms but now I want to load it into the S5timer. Firts I tried going straight inot the timer and thats didn't work even though I had configured my MW to be S5Time. So I now I am trying the above mentioned block. On monitoring the block my input value changes depending on what is set up on the hmi my input to the block is a MD configured for time. However when I update the FC40 block the output remains at zero regardless off the inout value. Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong. I am calling the FC40 block in the rung proir to my rung whcih includes my timer.

On my output word I had used the first byte in my program else where and that was been held at zero. Feel prity dumb that I didn't see it earlier
