Initialising individual elements of an array of UDT

ATMega128 Posts: 50 Rating: (5)	Hi all, Working in STL defined UDT 1: STRUCT param1 byte param2 byte level array [1..14] byte END_STRUCT in the static variables of an FB : data array [1..10] of UDT 1 Now I want to give each member of 'data'an initial value, but when clicking on 'data' : the tree doesn't open and stay's grey! Is it possible togive each member an initial value ? Kind Regards Johan

FunStuff Posts: 103 Rating: (10)	Not that I know of without using one of the startup OB's to push values. I hope someone has a way because I have several applications where I use an array and would like a way to do this as well. I currently push the values on Warm or Cold restart.

ATMega128 Posts: 50 Rating: (5)	Pegaia, Nop, in the FB's interface STAT : everything stays grey when opening in the instance DB : colom of initial value stays also grey !! What's the benifit of using ARRAY's in STL ? You can't index them and now it seems that you cannot give initial values !! Kind Regards Johan

If you use a UDT, just in the UDT can be the initial value to be set. Maybe, you needs only change the actual value of the variables. So, if you edit your DB, it will be ok.

In case that you still want to define individual initial values for for elements in an ARRAY, you can do it by writing all the initial values separated by commas. If several values have to be the same you do that by writing the number of elements followed by the value in a parantesis. Example: Initial values = 1,2,3,3(4),5 assigns the following initial values: 1,2,3,4,4,4,5

Jesper Pedersen Posts: 279 Rating: (30)	However, that the initial values "never" loads to the CPU is an exaggeration. When you create elements in a DB based on a UDT, then indeed the actual values are preloaded with the initial values. And even if the DB has been transferred to the CPU, the values can in rare cases be reset to the initial values. It can happen that the actual values gets corrupted on an MMC card in an S7-300 CPU. In that case the CPU loads the DB with the initial values. This has happened to me once. So it makes sense to preload the initial values with sensibly selected values rather than just zeoes.

But I need to initialise an array of UDT1 (with an array inside).If i initialise the values in the UDT1 definition, i get X times the same in my array of UDT1 !! I want to give each UDT different initial values in the array of UDT definition !! I'm afraid i have to follow the workaround as mentionned above : Stetting the initial values in the startup OB!
