How to add support for firmware for S7-1200 (v4.7) in TIA portal

ForNext Joined: 2/15/2025 Last visit: 8/1/2025 Posts: 12 Rating: (0)	Hello experts, We had develop project in TIA v18 for PLC S7-1200 6ES7 212-1AE40-0XB0 v4.6. Now we receive the controller, and we try to load the project : The PLC is with firmware v.47. I tried to update the firmware in the project, but the highest possible number is 4.6. So, how to add support for v4.7 in TIA portal? Thanks for help and time in advance !

qwazee Platinum Expert Joined: 3/30/2020 Last visit: 1/19/2026 Posts: 5660 Rating: (1083)	Simply load the program you have into the PLC. The software compiler is going to complain. Ignore the warning. The PLC will function as the software commands it – as firmware V4.6. One caution – Make sure that the hardware configuration is not set to insist on an exact hardware match.

0_Einstein Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 1/16/2026 Posts: 16379 Rating: (2522)	What does the PLC Diagnostics Buffer tell you - click rows with RED icons and read the descriptions. Usually, it means your remote hardware is not commissioned and/or connected, or the installed hardware is not where it is expected (from the hardware configuration), or firmware versions do not match such that parts are not spare parts compatible. Like for s7-1500 projects installing an ST analog module and configuring as an HS or HF module, that will cause RED blinking LED. kiril_kiryakov Thanks for support. There is an option to require the hardware to exactly match the configured hardware. I have never used this option, though, I am certain there are applications for it.
