i have the same question... i'm new in profinet networking, and now i have a project with one cpu 319 PN/DP and 9 IM stations... now the topology is in star configuration. The cable starts going out from the cpu, and go to each one station until the last station. The another port of cpu is used for scada visualisation. My idea is: put a cable in the last station and conect this to the second port of the CPU and add a CP343 only for the scada. This is the rigth way? there is a configuration to do in the hardware configuration, or is just put the new cable and? Hello jorge; You cannot close a link simply by using the second Ethernet port of the CPU; it actually is an in-built switch, unmanaged, so it cannot be used as a MRP controller. Hello jorge; Actually you need 2 Scalance X-200 switches because they do not (by themselves) support MPR as redundancy managers. So you need one X-200 per ring direction to control the redundancy. it depends is my answer as you did not say what type of 319 CPU you have. Assuming it is a 6ES7318-3EL01 with firmware V3.2 or later, than you you can indeed use the CPU as the MRP Ring Manager and do what you plan to do without the need for any Switches (and also assuming all I/O stations support being MRP Clients).
