Upgrade project from TIA Portal V13 SP1 to V15 SP1 fails

Coppens Groep Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hello, We are facing an issue with projects created in version 13 SP1 once we open them in STEP 7 V15 SP1. We receive the normal notification that you need to upgrade is ok and it mentions it will save it under a new project name. Perfect. Then you get a window with the original project and which products needs to be updated. In our case it is STEP 7 Basic, Totally Integrated Automation Portal and WinCC Basic. Once we click the upgrade button in this window we get the following error: Open project (0100:000500) Opening the project failed The upgrade failed. Access to the patch c:folder\Logs is denied. How can we fix this? The strange thing I see is that in the first window the filelocation is correct with for example c:\folder. in the error message is it is missing a \ after the drive letter c:folder. I checked the folder and file permissions and they are ok. Help is very much appreciated.

#dP Posts: 2826 Rating: (692)	Hello. Sorry to hear about your troubles. I am assuming you are using TIA V15.1 (there is no V15 SP1). What follows are suggestions. Do you perhaps have TIA V13 SP2 installed somewhere? Please open the project in that version, compile completely and save as another project name. If you have only V13 SP1, I hope it is updated to update 9. Again - do make sure the project is compiled properly. Try the upgrade again. The next suggestion is to modify the project to not include the WinCC portion. Try the upgrade. If all else fails - do a sanity check. Create a V13 SP1 project from scratch containing a PLC and HMI portions. Do a very simple project. Try the upgrade. If this does not work as well, then I would suggest creating a formal support request. BR
