SteveA Posts: 297 Rating: (42)	The S7 timers and counters use BCD internally. If you supply a value to either one that is not properly formatted as an S7TIME or BCD count, then you will also get this fault. (Found out the hard way...) HTH, SteveA

If you supply a value to either one that is not properly formatted as an S7TIME or BCD count, then you will also get this fault. (Found out the hard way...) just to avoid confusion, replace "S7 timers" with "S5 Timers" and "S7TIME" with "S5TIME" in SteveA's post and his advise is spot on correct.

A 16 Bit (Word) BDC - Code can be four digits: 9999. 1 digit of BCD need 4 Bit (= 1/2 byte, = 1 nibble) This fit anyway in an integer word! But if one of the BCD digit is a preudotetrade (A-F), Than the error will appear. Example: 9999 is OK 1A is NOT OK. Whats been said is correct. When using the ITB function you must be careful not to exceed 999 as 1000 will be larger then a word and result in a BCD conversion error. And it's 999 and not 9999, bit 12-15 are the sign bits. If it were a S7-400 you could've used the OB121 diagnostics to find out where the problem is. But you're using a S7-300 which makes it a tad more difficult. If you really really really don't know where to begin looking, then it might be time for a more 'brutal' way to find the problem.

Thomas123V Posts: 1 Rating: (1)	Hi, Try taking the ob121 out of the online programm. Your plc will go to stop. Then you go to the failure in the "Module information" when you find the failure, click on the bottom of the window in "Go to..." It will take you to the failure in the code.
