S7-400H Fault

sankannan Posts: 35 Rating: (0)	Dear experts, One of the S7-400H station (417-4H) was commissioned before 2 years and it was worked well. But last week, Both CPU's all LED's are blinking and process also got Hang. we are not able to communicate the cpu's also. As per manual, It is "CPU Defective!!!" After power off and on, it came to normal function but after few hours the same thing happened. Then we switched off the second cpu and we run the plant with CPU A solo mode due to urgency of the production. we are running the system in solo mode past 1 week without any problem. Today i switched to 2nd cpu in solo mode and it is also working well. So i conclude the problem is in synchronization and planning to buy Sync modules to replace. Please suggest me whether i am in right track. Regards, San

hdhosseini Diamond Expert Joined: 1/28/2009 Last visit: 12/17/2025 Posts: 6885 Rating: (1368)	Hello, Just to add some point regarding your problem: In cases that both CPUs are included, please first check you installation that suits the suggested guidelines.For that, you can refer to SIMATIC S7-400 Hardware and installation manual.The important points would be grounding and EMC. If there is an intact CPU , try to connect and find out what was the reaction of it in buffer .In this case, you can consult people in support request for more helps. I encountered cases that blinking LEDs was due to accessories like external memory modules and also solved a case by changing SYNC. Module but I consider accessories at the end of the list to check. I faced same problem one year ago and it was related to calling certain analog addresses out of process image range. And Siemens solved this problem in latest firmware. Hope this helps.
