CPU 416-2Dp all LEDs flashing continously

Cananyone tell me what could be the problem and how to solve it? Dear Muneeb, As mentioned, the CPU is giving a DEFECT, look in the diagnostic buffer for the message DEFECTIVE.... To do that switch the CPU on STOP and switch the power briefly off and then on, after that you cab read out the diagnostic buffer and save that to a textfile. Look if for the CPU you have a new Firmware version is available and if the DEFECTIVE-Message is listed by the Firmware update. If not send your saved Defective message(s) then to your Siemens representive. If the CPU is not up-to-date, then please update then the firmware. If the defective state is initiated then the CPU didn't have software for that particular problem and goes in defective. (working further is not appreciated because there is a unknown situation) I have seen once a CPU (NOT a SIEMENS CPU) that goes in defective state and automatically makes a new start and goes back in RUN, it was a bad copy, that is also not what the customers want.

I tried to go online but its not going online. as you mentioned to go in diagnostic buffer, how can i go in diagnostic buffer if i cannot go online with any port? Dear Muneeb, You have to switch the CPU in STOP and switch off the power briefly... After that you could go online, please read out the diagnostic buffer and save that in a file, make a atachement to this thread and I will look if there is something could be find to the DEFECTIVE message. Please NO hardcopy! The newer CPUs could be updated online, the older ones needed a 16Mb Flash Eprom (FEPROM) to write the new firmware on and then you have to switch off the power, remove when necessary any module, place the FEPROM-module and switch on the power, first will all LEDs lit up and after some time the STOP-LED is blinking, then switch off the power and remove the FEPROM with the Firmware and place back any other module. Switch on the power and look in the diagnostic buffer if the update is done (save it when you can't find any update message). Load the program again and see if it works. By the way which CPU416 do you have ?

Regards muneeb Have you try to master reset your CPU?? 1. Turn OFF power supply 2. Take out backup battery and memory card 3. Install again backup battery and memory card 4.turn ON power supply Make sure you already have backup program to do this... Those step already work in my factory yesterday..
