adrian_botez Posts: 185 Rating: (9)	Hello experts. I have 10 sinamics V20 , and I am using the 2 available digital outputs. The first one, DO1 is a transistor uotput, and it doesn´t activate . I have the parameter 0731 configured as 52.2 , and the parameter 0732 configured as 52.3. This one, DO2 works fine, but DO1 does not. You know if it´s a configuration problem?

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1204)	Adrian, Please note that DO1 is polarized. Internally it is a optic isolated transistor. I have not used DO1 on this drive yet, but on other brands I have. The ones I used has x1 relay and x2 transistor outputs. The transistor outputs on these are listed as open collector types. If I could assume the V20 connects in the same way.. then the JPG attached is what you are looking for. -- open collector to PNP using pull-up resistor -- Realise however that this gives a polarity change. This method will work. The GETTING STARTED guide on page 14, does not give me the idea that the method shown in the attached JPG is needed. The specification on the transistor is also 35Vdc. I am hoping that an expert will come along and add wisdom to this thread. Otherwise.. use the design idea in the JPG. w Attachment Electrical connection to DO1 of V20 drive.jpg (1516 Downloads)

As with the relay, you still need a voltage source. See the transistor as a polarised relay.. Ensure to have the +DC voltage the closest to DO1+ pin and -DC voltage closest to DO- pin. I want to enable the DO1 when the move forward command is received and it will have to release an external brake controlled by the relay.

It extracts from an official manual. The relevant information is highlighted for your review. The output in question works much like a relay would. You will see the internal mechanism of the optic isolated transistor in the diagram. The switched side of the transistor is isolated from any other "internal" power source. The external connections need to provide the power to be switched. What makes this different than DO2: * only DC can be switched (watch out for the max voltage and current!) * polarity needs to be observed * it is a normally open configuration (but you can change polarity in parameters.) Especially be on the look out for the power that this DO1 can switch. The best one to have is: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/67267484 The output should already be working internally. If an electrical source is given, the external connections should show the result. [1] Electrical connection The electrical connection for DO1 should include a DC power source. Use the JPG supplied in post 6/21/2014, 6:32 PM as template. If you have one drive's DO2 going to the PLC, consider swapping functions of DO1 and DO2. Otherwise consider having DO1 drive a 24Vdc coiled relay. [2] Programming parameter adrian_botez I have the parameter 0731 configured as 52.2.. From the manual page 138: r0052.0...15 CO / BO: Active status bit 02 Inverter running Yes that will release the brake. I would however recommend you read the manual Section "5.6.2.5 Setting the braking function", page 76..84 Section "Motor holding brake", page 83..84 applies. The sketch on page page 84 is most important. This applies to DO2 but can work for DO1. -- That is all I have. Good luck. w

Right now, I have this configuration: DI1 will move forward , DI1 and DI2 will move backward and DI4 is the Jog command. Can i separate DI1 and DI2? I mean DI1 only forward and DI2 only backward.
