Hello experts,

I have a Siemens PLC CPU3152P and an ABB controller PM851. I also have a siemesn DP/DP coupler.

What should I do if I want to connect these two control systems by profibus? Iwant the two controller talk to each other and have access to other one I/Os.

Do I need OPC server for this? if yes should it be siemens OPC server or ABB or it doesn't matter?

I would truly appreciate your help.

hi David,

DP/DP-Coupler is easy. 

you have to project it on each side as slave with the transfer-areas that you need. 

When you have e.g. 16 Byte Input on the one side in slot 1 you need 16 Byte Output on the other side in slot one.

It´s okay to ask. Thats what this forum is made for. You don´t have to excuse yourself for it. 

no, you don´t need to configure it. 

The PLC´s just communicate with the coupler. They just access the inputs and outputs. If you set an ouput on the "left" side of coupler it will appear as input on the other side.
