Hello all.

I have started working on a new project with TIA portal V13 sp1, which includes a KTP 700 2 gen basic panel.

I tried to load the first changes to the HMI, and was prompted to update the firmware of the panel, so I checked the option to update the panel. The update started fine, and the firmware was transferred to the panel, the panel restarted and then I got the following error:

In the popup window there was just the possibility to cancel the update. I tried to search for the panel online but the TIA portal can't find the panel now. Now the panel just shows the SIMATIC HMI Screen right after it boots.

What can I do?

If it stay stuck at Siemens, etc page and does not prompt you to the menu where u select transfer,config, ecc ecc then I'd think to a problem in the firmware or boot up system of panel...

Are u able to ping the HMI ?

Do u see any messages in the HMI before the "Siemens page" ?

Hello.

No I cannot ping the panel. This is what worries me the most, it seems to be bricked. When I connect the ethernet cable to the Panel both the status and the traffic lights are light constantly. When there is no cable connected to the panl the traffic (orange) light of the RJ 45 connector is light. 

When I connect the panel to 24V it shows the black screen with the Siemens logo in the center and with yellow letters it says which boot loader is loaded, what MAC address of the panel.

Try to perform an OS update, with the option "Reset to factory settings" selected.

Yes I have tried to preformed the factory reset, but the panel isn't visible on the profinet network. I tried to ping it but no response...

Also the manual for the factory reset is a bit confusing...

In step 4 it says that you have to power down the panel:

Operator panel: power supply Switch off the power supply for the operator panel. 

I tried this but, the Ethernet card says that the cable is disconnected, and the TIA portal doesn't find any devices...

I tried also with the panel powered up, but it is the same...

Yes, you will have to Boot the panel. (Power off and then Power on)

Your PC will search on the network to MAC Address.

Perhaps your PC is not able to search for MAC Address? (It can be blocked by Virusscanner or Firewall)

I've tried but no luck unfortunately, the panel isn't discoverable... :(

The problem is that I have another panel(same KTP700 2 gen) that is for our next project and am now reluctant to download anything to it because TIA portal wants’ to update it...

Just received the following from support:

if the KTP700 Basic Panel 2nd Gen has lost the image and doesn't boot anymore (hangs up in the screen showing the grid and text SIMATIC HMI) it is not possible to do a reset to factory settings anymore.

In this case you only can send the panel to the repair center.
