I want to virtualize an OS server running in VM Ware. The problem is CP1623 is not getting detected after making a network bridge in the VM session. I need guidance as to accomplish this task.

Yes the station configuration editor does not allow CP1623 to be added in the VM.

Also with IE General or any other connection you cannot make a S7 fault tolerant connection.

CP1623 can not be used in virtual environments.

That is because VMware does not know that cP1623 is an Ethernet card.

You have to use standard network cards and the softnet redconnect software.

Hello,

the main problem is that you use the wrong strategy for the virtualisation!

If you need a special card like CP1623 or PROFIBUS CP with PCI/PCIe Interface you should not use the "commercial" VMWare Workstation/Player. This was oónly Desktop virtualisation Solutions without any special HW Features !
This Virtualisation have no PCI/PCIe passtrough function and can't use the PCI/PCIe Devices directly!

Here you must use the VMWare VShpere. With this you can configuring a passtrough of the installed PCI/PCIe Devices to the VM and use the Cards native inside the VM.

I have done such configuration often and it works with CP1623 without any problem.

I agree that you must use vSphere/ESXi and use the hardware passthrough option.  I have done this for many VM's running older cards and software versions that just do not run on the later Windows OS such as Windows 7 or Server12.

You must note that there is no way of doing this with the desktop products such as Player or Workstation Pro.

For testing, you can always register and download a free version of ESXi from VMware and set this up on a spare PC to test before you commit to purchasing the required licenses to run in a commercial production environment.
