Adding DB comment to alarm_s message

tychotech Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi, I have created several modules that uses the alarm_s/alarm_d blocks for messaging. All of these modules has a template message (created on the FB), e.g. [Instrument] High High alarm Exceeded. When creating the instance for every instrument, this message is inserted for that Instrument. In stead of typing in the Instrument name for every alarm, I would like to change the template to replace the [Instrument] section with the comment of the Instance DB. I have seen that this is possible with CFC/PCS7 using something like $$COMMENT$$. How do you link the shared database in a message for Setp7/WinCC? Thanks,

Denilson Pegaia Diamond Member Joined: 9/23/2005 Last visit: 1/16/2026 Posts: 4449 Rating: (1487)	Hi, I'm not 100% surethat works but I have a suggestion: 1 - Create a FB and ONE instance DB as usual. 2 - Set the messages on this DB also as usual. 3 - Generate a source file of the instance DB. 4 - Export the source file to word (or excel), and play with it... (find/replace, macros, etc.) 5 - Import it and compile it again.

I generated a source of an instance DB file with alarms and in the end of the source file there is alarm information, but it's somehow encoded so that it can not be edited.. e.g.: <TIC_TEXT1 LCID="1035">QDFXJXQjQWxhcm1zTGliQCBNb25pdG9yaW5nIGVycm9y</TIC_TEXT1> <TEXT1 LCID="1035">QDFXJXQjQWxhcm1zTGliQCBNb25pdG9yaW5nIGVycm9y</TEXT1> Is there any other way to edit alarm text than from <special object properties -> messages> I'm generting code blocks for hundreds of instruments and manually editing all alarm text doesn't make sense.. f_bman Posts: 15 Rating: (2)	Hi writing this in case if anyone else get this thread as search result for similar search as I did. after some research, I was informed by siemens support that it is not possible to automate the procces of creating message texts. At least not with help of the xml-string mentioned above. This is created by pdiag (somehow, i don't have it installed, but it's created anyway). It seems like you havce to do this the hard way.
