A couple of months ago I replaced two LS frequency drives for two G120C drives (2.2kW). Both are equipped with an IOP and both have a SINAMICS MMC inside, communicating by PROFINET and are controlled by a CPU 315-2 PN/DP via telegram 352. Everything was done in TIA V13 SP1 Upd9 and Startdrive V13 SP1 Upd3. The drives are installed in a ship's plant to control two conveyors.

The main reason I changed over to SINAMICS drives is to make it easier and faster for the people onboard the ship to replace it. Especially the "Drive to memory card" and "Memory card to drive" are real time savers.

At this moment both drives are out of use. The technical crew said they had a problem with the plant and they "thought" it came from one of the drives. They copied back the parameters from the MMCs to the drives and then there was no more communication. On both PLC and drives the BF LEDs are blinking. No more information was given.

In my opinion the PROFINET cables are okay, because remotely I can communicate with the PLC. Two broken communication cables from the drives at the same time is also not common. That's why I think the drives lost their IP addresses and/or station names. Maybe the crew did also a factory reset before they copied back the parameters from the MMC to the drive?

Both drives are giving the "No Cyclic Connection" fault, so I need to check "Name of Station" and "IP of Station" (r61000, r61001). Aren't these parameters copied to the MMC?

Like with a broken CPU 315-2 PN/DP (and others), you take a new one out of the box, put in the old MMC and you are up and running again. Does the G120C hasn't got this possibility? If no, how can I make this more *** proof?

Thank you so much for your response. Within dataset 0 the .ini file was created, but no PROFINET name was saved within this file. I don't know why, because I'm sure I performed a RAM to ROM and save drive to memory card action.

With TIA I assigned the PROFINET names again and the drives started to work. I don't know yet if the names can be assigned directly at the drive. When I check r61000 only numbers are shown as a device name. 

I've made several tests today. I went back to factory default and made a reboot with the memory card inside. Everything was restored properly. When I interchanged the memory cards between the drives, after rebooting the drives were getting their "neighbors" parameters, so that's okay too.

For me it's much more clear and for now the drives are much more "idi0t" proof.

the CPU will assign the IP-address to the drive, as soon as they can “see” the drive with the appropriate Profinetname on the bus.
Only for the MMC-dataset 0 an .ini-file is created with the communication settings.
Please check that dataset 0 is used and an .ini-file was created. You can find the files on the MMC card, folder user/sinamics/data. When you open the .ini-file you can check if the correct Profinet settings were saved.
Maybe no ini- file was saved or the Profinet name on it is wrong.

Does the inverter work again, if you are assigning the correct Profinet name again?
If so and no .ini-file was created, I would recommend to use an empty MMC card(save the data if you are using the same Card) and perform Ram to Rom. With this step dataset 0 including the ini-file should be created on the MMC.
