I have a TCSB v3 with OPC UA server, and I have configured WinCC runtime advanced as OPC UA client.

in the WinCC connections I have used UA server discovery URL: opc.tcp://hostname:4852. with security none.

the WinCC runtime advanced installed at separate PC.

my problem when I add the TAGs, I have browsed the UA server and when I try to use the connectionstate for example, I got the address is "ns=TCS;s=tcs:[projectname.stationname.101]connectionstate", but when I try to open the runtime I have got the ### for the connectionstate value.

I have tried OPC UA clients from the same PC that run the runtime advanced, and I can got the values without any problem. in addition, if I use OPC "DA" I can browse from the WinCC runtime advanced normally,

any feedback?

Can you try with OPC Scout to check everything is ok or not?

## meaning may be connection is not yet establish or the length of IO field is not sufficient to show actual input value.

Look on the WinCC Runtime System at this Path:

c:\ProgramData\Siemens\CoRtHmiRTm\OPC\PKI\CA

Look in the Rejected Folder. If there is a Certificate File then copy it to the Certs Folder

then Try again

-< Check also if you use the Computername not the IP Adress in the OPC UA Access Path and try a PING with the Computername to check if the Name resolution works. If not then Edit the lmhosts Files.

I don't have the OPC scout, I have tested the the application UAexpert and I can get the values normally.

I posted my question in order to check the tag address I posted is correct or I need to add "Root/Objects/OPC.simaticNET.TCSB/projectname/Process Stations/sitename.101/System Data/connectionstate"?

The UA Expert Client does the Certificate Handling automatically.

you just have to accept it in Application but the winCC Advanced Runtime System not.

here you have to do the certificate validation manually in the File system. (In the most cases also if you choose no security!!!)

within this folder (c:\ProgramData\Siemens\CoRtHmiRTm\OPC\PKI\CA) I see too folders "!TCSB1" & "default", I checked inside both folders and I see two certificates inside default\rejected and copied them into default\certs and check, but the same error.

and also I can ping the server hostname, since I also checked from OPC UA client and it is worked fine.

TAG address:

option 1: Root/Objects/OPC.simaticNET.TCSB/project/Process Stations/stationname.101/Objects/DB/DB1/

Option 2: Root/Objects/OPC.simaticNET.TCSB/project/Process Stations/stationname.101/System Data/connectionstate

do I use option 1 or 2?

Both options are correct.

1st one is to check connection state and 2nd one is to access PLC data/variables.

the correct is:

ns=TCS;s=TCS:[projectname.stationname.101]ConnectionState

the project name and the station name is case sensitive. and the same thing if you choose opc process values, the db1 must be DB1 and also for the process value type must be capital letter.
