Hi all,

take this ,,answer´´ as my personal opinion.

I had to try out the datalogging problem. From my side the pen drive on the HMI needs to be inserted before the program starts (start or stop runtime), otherwise I encountered that the pen drive wasn´t detected and no logging began or you can exit the program, then insert the pen drive and then start the program again and after that I´m prety sure that the pen drive will log data once asked for to start it (ofcourse once all other things were already made like: pen drive needs to be in FAT32 format, the HMI has to be updated to newest firmware version and so on). HMI even works with 3.0 and 3.1 speed class (this condition wasn´t before the firmware update).

If you finaly have a working project with datalogging and all the data was succesfuly (take this step as that you no longer need to datalog) loaded to the pen drive (for example in path: USB_X60.1 and for Basic KTP700 version of HMI there´s no other choice) into a single .TXT file through Historical data section, you should stop the dataloging by creating a button that makes this function under Historical data and add to it (+ the other things and so on) the close all logs (+ safely remove hardware, which is in this case the path: USB_X60.1). If you do not close all logs and you´ll not create an event safely remove hardware and you´ll pull the pen drive out, then in this case the .TXT file come corrupted and OS (of your PC) will (like Windows) show that one or more files are corrupted in which they are couse the HMI was still working with it even though the LED light on the pen drive wasn´t flashing (if it has any). Of course that the recorded file is operational and you can open it, but still better to make those step than to fully trash out your drive or whatever it could happen to it.

Tested on HMI KTP400 and 700 with WinCC basic.
